This month’s books were all about Friendship!  It’s a complex world to navigate for even us grown ups so introducing our little ones to the idea of making friends through beautiful and fun picture books is a great way to get them started!

We set out to find three books that explored different aspects of friendship: from making friends to (not so) friendly rivalry and dealing with those friends who sometimes just get on our nerves!  Here’s what we found this month:

Books in the box this month

  • Be Friendly, Little Pig – A story about reading and making friends – double points!
  • Bubble Trouble – an interactive lift-flap book about “friendly” competition
  • Copycat Bear – unique illustrations tell the story of a bear who wants to be just like his friend

Be Friendly, Little Pig

When we saw this book was all about a little pig trying to find someone to help him to read, we thought bonus! Double whammy! This book introduces our babies to a colourful farmyard full of animals who all have some rather questionable ideas about books…

Bubble Trouble

It can be hard not to let a little healthy competition get the better of us, and that’s exactly what our friends in this fun tale are about to find out!  With lift-flap bubbles to make your read more interactive, this is a fun story with a serious undertone about the meaning of friendship.

Copycat Bear

This book made the cut not only for it’s important message about friends, but for it’s beautifully unique illustrations.  The pages are awash with big blue bear trying to mimic his yellow bird friend in a wonderfully artistic forest setting.
